Vol. 412 No. 6

Written Answers. - Sheep Scab.

Michael Joe Cosgrave

Question:

76 Mr. Cosgrave asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will outline the efforts which are being made to eliminate sheep scab.

Under the Sheep Dipping Orders, 1965 to 1991, all sheep are required to be dipped under local authority supervision once every year in the period between 15 September and 31 January. In order to maximise the effectiveness of the dipping effort I have in recent years pressed each authority to adhere to a uniform six-week dipping period starting 15 September.
