Vol. 412 No. 6

Written Answers. - National Debt.

Michael Creed

Question:

90 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for Finance the size of the national debt (1) in July, 1989 and (2) today.

The national debt is normally calculated at the end of each quarter and in response to the Deputy's question I propose to indicate the national debt figure for the end-quarter nearest to the dates mentioned in the question. At end June 1989 the national debt was £25,331 million and at end September 1991 the national debt was £25,705 million.
