Vol. 413 No. 5

Written Answers. - Departmental Representation at Coursing Meetings.

Tony Gregory

Question:

70 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Finance if it is his policy that wildlife officers attend all coursing meetings; and if any wildlife officer was in attendance at the coursing meeting held in Waterford on 28 October 1991.

Wildlife officers are employed to enforce the provisions of the Wildlife Act, 1976, and they attend coursing meetings to ensure that there are no breaches of that Act. However, attendance at any given meeting is subject to operational requirements. The Wildlife Service was not represented at the meeting in Waterford on 28 October 1991.
