Vol. 413 No. 5

Written Answers. - Anti-Smog Campaign.

Eric J. Byrne

Question:

138 Mr. Byrne asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the need to run an anti-smog campaign this year, given the fact that bituminous coal is banned in Dublin and that Ballyfermot is a smoke controlled zone; and if he will outline the total cost of the present advertisement campaign.

Public support is a vital factor for the success of the Dublin coal ban. The aim of the current media campaign, for which £140,000 is available, is to encourage and consolidate support for the coal ban among Dublin householders.
