20 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for the Environment if he will outline his views on proposals in the document, the Caring for the Earth published jointly by the United Nations Environment Programme, the World Conservation Union and the World Wide Fund for Nature.
This report is one of many prepared, or being prepared, by governmental and non-governmental organisations for submission to the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED). It is a detailed document, compiled on the responsibility of the three agencies concerned, and it proposes a three-part strategy for sustainable development, with guidelines for implementation, recommendations for priority actions, and suggested targets. Ireland will be submitting its own national report on sustainable development to the UNCED secretariat shortly.
