29 Mr. Moynihan asked the Minister for the Environment the number of local authority employees who are employed full-time in monitoring pollution and water quality; the location of such employees; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
The information requested, in so far as it is available to my Department, is set out in a table which I propose to circulate in the Official Report. The information relates to the position as at 31 December 1989. Details are included of the (non-local authority) personnel employed at the regional laboratories in Castlebar, Kilkenny and Monaghan; these laboratories are financed by the participating local authorities and provide water quality monitoring and analytical services to cater for local authority requirements.
