Vol. 413 No. 6

Written Answers. - Control of Dogs.

Michael Bell

Question:

32 Mr. Bell asked the Minister for the Environment if he has had discussions with the Campaign Against Muzzling in relation to the Control of Dogs (Amendment) Bill, 1991; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

My Department wrote in July 1991 to various organisations and individuals informing them of the intention to introduce legislation to provide additional powers to deal in a comprehensive manner with all aspects of dog control, and inviting their views on the most effective methods of implementing the legislation. Submissions have been received from various bodies, including one from the organisation which styles itself "Campaign Against Muzzling" and these are currently being examined in my Department. I have not had any consultations with Campaign Against Muzzling.
