Vol. 413 No. 6

Written Answers. - New Dublin Employment Exchange.

Question:

73 Mr. Mitchell asked the Minister for Finance if he has been requested to approve funding for a new employment exchange premises in lieu of, or in addition to, the Navan Road employment exchange; if he will outline whether the approval is forthcoming, in view of the very grievous problems at the present employment exchange affecting both staff and claimants.

As the Deputy will be aware, the Government are presently considering the 1992 departmental Estimates and while the financial prospects for 1992 are critical, I am hopeful that provision will be made to start the Navan Road employment exchange in 1992.

In the meantime, planning of the new office involving design, preparation of working drawings, preparation for tender etc., is now in progress.
