Vol. 413 No. 6

Written Answers. - Theatre Liquor Licences.

Thomas Foxe

Question:

92 Mr. Foxe asked the Minister for Justice the present position in relation to the granting of a publican's licence to the Tivoli Theatre, Francis Street, Dublin 8; if he proposes making any changes in the legislation concerning liquor licences for theatres; if so, the nature of such amendments; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I understand that an appeal against the decision of the Circuit Court to transfer a liquor licence from a demolished premises to the Tivoli Theatre under the relevant provisions in the licensing laws is currently before the High Court.

As I have explained in the House on previous occasions I could not undertake to indicate by way of reply to parliamentary questions what specific proposals I might have in regard to amending legislation in a particular area. When there is a Government decision in the matter it will be announced in the normal way.
