103 Mr. McGrath asked the Minister for the Environment the amount of special grant aid paid to each county council in each of the last five years for footpath maintenance, construction or repair along national primary and secondary roads.
Maintenance and repair of footpaths along national primary and secondary roads may be charged against the grants allocated annually for ordinary maintenance work on such roads. It has not been the practice to provide specific road grants for the construction of footpaths other than as part of an overall road improvement project.
The following table shows the grants for ordinary maintenance of national roads for each county over the past five years.
