Vol. 413 No. 9

Written Answers. - Rate Support Grant.

Louis J. Belton

Question:

217 Mr. Belton asked the Minister for the Environment if, in view of the fact that the proposed rate of £34.40 in the pound for Longford County Council for the year 1992 means a shortfall of over £4 million in rate support grant even allowing for adjustments in loan charges, supplementary welfare allowance and land drainage demands, he will restore the rate support grant to the council to its 1985 level of £3,006,947.

The rate support grant provision for 1992 is £168.75 million, the same as for 1991. I have notified local authorities of their allocations for the coming year which are the same for each authority as the corresponding allocations for the current year.
