Vol. 413 No. 9

Written Answers. - Green Paper on Education.

Roger T. Garland

Question:

253 Mr. Garland asked the Minister for Education if he will give an assurance that the Green Paper will have regard to the constitutional rights and responsibilities of parents and will not include compulsory school attendance; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The Deputy will appreciate that it would be inappropriate for me to make any detailed comments on the content of the Green Paper prior to its publication. The Deputy may rest assured, however, that the proposals in the paper will have due regard to relevant constitutional provisions.
