Question:255 Mr. Spring asked the Minister for Education if he will outline any plans which his Department have for amalgamating or streamlining secondary education facilities in Tralee, County Kerry.

In 1989, the Mercy Order agreed, in principle, to amalgamate their two post-primary schools in Tralee, at Balloonagh and Moyderwell, into a single post-primary school on the Balloonagh site. The question of implementation is a matter for further discussion with the Mercy Order.
No other proposals have been received by my Department for amalgamating or streamlining second-level education facilities in Tralee.
