Vol. 414 No. 1

Written Answers. - Property Sales.

Peadar Clohessy

Question:

45 Mr. Clohessy asked the Minister for Defence if payments received for the sale of property under his Department's jurisdiction can be re-invested in the remaining properties; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Receipts from sales of property by my Department are credited to the Appropriations-in-Aid subhead of the Defence Vote in accordance with approved financial procedures. The proceeds from important sales of property are, however, by direction of the Department of Finance, credited direct to the Exchequer.

Specific provision for the maintenance and upkeep of my Department's properties is made on an annual basis in the Department's Estimates.
