Vol. 414 No. 1

Written Answers. - Protection of Animals.

Roger T. Garland

Question:

79 Mr. Garland asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will outline who are responsible for the welfare of animals in private zoos; and the legislation under which they are protected.

All animals are protected under the Protection of Animals Acts 1911 and 1965. The Acts are enforced by the Garda Síochána. There is no specific legislation governing welfare of animals in zoos.
