Question:

120 Mr. J. Bruton, Mr. J. Mitchell, Miss Flaherty, Mr. Connor and Mr. Carey asked the Minister for Energy if all ESB plants comply with the EC directive on large combustion plants in regard to emissions of sulphur dioxide and other noxious gases; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The limits set out in the EC Directive do not apply until 1 January 1993 for existing ESB plants.

Ireland is committed to fulfilling its obligations in this area.
