Vol. 414 No. 4

Written Answers. - National Lottery Funding.

Edward Nealon

Question:

245 Mr. Nealon asked the Minister for Education if he will outline, in respect of the latest year for which figures are available, the amount of national lottery funding spent by his Department on youth and sport activities in County Sligo; and if he will give details of where this money was spent.

Grants are paid by my Department from the proceeds of the national lottery in respect of youth and sport activities to a large number of agencies who provide services locally and nationally. Consequently, it would not be possible to quantify the total number approved in respect of any specific geographic area.

In addition to the grants paid to national organisations, the following grants amounting to £88,885 have been allocated in 1991 for the promotion of various youth and sport activities in County Sligo: (i) Sligo Youth Information Centre, £34,750; (ii) Sligo Social Services Council Youth Project, £15,835; (iii) Town of Sligo vocational education committee (Local Voluntary Youth Council), £5,000; (iv) Town of Sligo vocational education committee (Youth and Sport Activities including Sports for All Campaign), £11,900; (v) County Sligo vocational education committee (Youth and Sport Activities including Sports for All Campaign), £21,400.
