Vol. 414 No. 5

Written Answers. - Energy Action Programme for County Donegal.

Dinny McGinley

Question:

71 Mr. McGinley asked the Minister for Energy if he will consider establishing an energy action programme for County Donegal.

I assume that the Deputy is referring to the work of the charitable organisation, Energy Action, which is involved in draught-proofing the homes of the needy and elderly.

It is entirely a matter for Energy Action to decide the areas of the country in which they will operate. I understand that they have already begun to expand in counties outside Dublin, including County Donegal.

Since their inception in 1988, my Department have consistently contributed towards the funding of Energy Action's work and the grant payable by my Department this year amounts to £30,000.
