Vol. 414 No. 10

Written Answers. - Tax Refunds.

Jim Higgins

Question:

51 Mr. J. Higgins asked the Minister for Finance the reason for the delay in making a refund of inheritance tax to a person (details supplied) in County Mayo.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that the refund of inheritance tax in this case, together with interest assessed up to date, has now issued to the firm of solicitors acting in the estate. The delay was caused by the additional workload resulting from the capital acquisitions tax amnesty.

Question:

52 Mr. E. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Finance when a tax rebate will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that as the taxpayer is currently employed and has been issued with a certificate of tax-free allowances for the current year the question of a refund is a matter for her employer.
