Question:2 Mr. McGrath asked the Minister for Defence if he intends to sell off any unused army barracks during 1992.
Written Answers. - Sale of Army Barracks.
The military post at Fort Dunree, County Donegal, was closed in June 1990. My Department propose to transfer the old fort building, which incorporates a military museum, to Donegal County Council and to dispose of the balance of the property.
It is also proposed to dispose of the old barracks in Cavan, which was closed in September 1990.
The Government have decided to close and dispose of Collins Barracks, Dublin, when the troops stationed there have been relocated. It is anticipated that Collins Barracks will be evacuated by the end of 1992.
