Charles Flanagan

Question:

154 Mr. Flanagan asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a beef subsidy will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Offaly.

The person named it not the registered owner of the herd number quoted. However, his 1991 suckler cow premium scheme grant is being processed and payment will issue shortly.

He listed on his 1991 special beef premium scheme application form three animals which had already received premium. Since special beef premium may be claimed only once in the lifetime of each animal he was deemed to have made a false declaration of his application and cannot be paid any special beef premium for 1991. In addition he will not be eligible to apply again for special beef premium for 12 months from 5 September 1991.

156 Mr. Flanagan asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason payment of a ewe subsidy has not been made to persons (details supplied) in County Laois; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

My Department are now satisfied that the person named did not have prior official notice of a compulsory purchase order served on him in respect of his holding in April 1991, which necessitated disposal of his flock. In the circumstances payment of the 1991 ewe premium on 85 ewes has been approved. The first and second instalments of that premium will be paid to the persons named within the next three weeks.

162 Mr. E. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when payment in respect of (1) a suckler grant for 22 cows, (2) a beef premium for 22 cows and (3) a beef premium for 11 cows will be issued to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

This applicant has already been paid his 1991 suckler cow and beef cow and equines headage schemes grants.

His 1991 special beef premium scheme grant is being processed and if found in order payment will issue shortly.

167 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if, in view of the exceptional circumstances relating to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford, he will approve for payment this person's ewe subsidy scheme application which is bone fide in every respect, and, if so, when.

The application of the person named has been reviewed in the light of the additional information now to hand and payment of the 1991 ewe premium in respect of the 167 eligible ewes presented at inspection has been approved. Payment will issue within the next three weeks.
