Question:

208 Mr. Bradford asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason a person (details supplied) in County Cork is not being paid a suckler cow grant in respect of the total number of animals for which it is being claimed.

The person named applied for grants under the 1990 suckler cow premium scheme for small-scale milk producers on 28 January 1991. Under EC regulations governing that scheme he is deemed to have 14 dairy cows producing a milk quota of 9,338.8 gallons. Since he had only 19 cows in his herd test of 7 February 1991 the maximum number of grants that he is eligible for under the scheme is five and these grants will be paid shortly.
