Vol. 415 No. 7

Written Answers. - County Wexford School Project.

Ivan Yates

Question:

83 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Education if he will ensure that construction work is completed on a primary school (details supplied) in County Wexford and if he will outline the steps, if any, he is now proposing to take to ensure the necessary works are completed immediately; if he agrees in view of the fact that this matter was brought to his attention some months ago (a) no progress has been made in resolving it since and (b) the deadline period for completion of the school has long since past; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I am aware of the situation in relation to the primary school in County Wexford referred to by the Deputy. The contractor went into voluntary liquidation in January 1992 and my Department are in consultation with the liquidator regarding the completion of the outstanding works in accordance with the conditions of contract. My Department will make every effort to ensure that the matter is brought to a conclusion with the minimum of delay.
