Vol. 415 No. 8

Written Answers. - Applications for Political Asylum.

Roger T. Garland

Question:

235 Mr. Garland asked the Minister for Justice if he will outline the categories of applicants for refugee status that have been accepted by his Department.

In considering applications for political asylum, I will be guided, as I understand my predecessors have been, by the provisions of the United Nations Convention on the Status of Refugees of 1951 as amended by the New York Protocol to that Convention of 1957.
