Vol. 415 No. 9

Written Answers. - Supreme Court Facilities.

Brendan Howlin

Question:

145 Mr. Howlin asked the Minister for Justice if he will give details of the extent of the existing research and support facilities available to members of the Supreme Court; his views on whether these support and research facilities are adequate; if he intends to make any improvement in this regard; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

There is a total of 14 support staff attached to the Supreme Court. The Chief Justice has his own library and there is also a judges' library, both of which are supplied with law books, reports, periodicals, etc., as required. The level of support and research facilities available to the court is kept under constant review. Recently a computer was installed in the judges' library and plans are on hand for a legal information retrieval system to be installed in the near future.
