Vol. 416 No. 1

Written Answers. - Army Equitation School.

Madeleine Taylor-Quinn

Question:

80 Mrs. Taylor-Quinn asked the Minister for Defence the plans the Army Equitation School have to participate in equestrian events in the current year; if he envisages greater participation nationally and internationally than heretofore; and if he is happy with class standards at present.

It is envisaged that the Army Equitation School will participate in approximately ten international and 40 national shows in 1992. Participation in international shows is subject to invitations being received, availability of horses and riders and the selection of Army riders as part of Irish teams for certain shows/events. I am satisfied that the Army Equitation School have demonstrated their ability to compete successfully at the highest level at home and abroad. I am confident that they will continue to do so.
