Vol. 416 No. 2

Written Answers. - TV Licences For Schools.

Ivor Callely

Question:

97 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Education if any concession can be given to schools for television licence fees due to the increased use of television as an educational aid; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I refer the Deputy to the reply to Parliamentary Question No. 174 on 4 December 1990 given by the Minister for Communications.

There are no funds available to my Department out of which specific grants can be provided in connection with television licences for schools. It is, of course, open to schools to avail of the grants given by my Department for general running costs of schools, for this purpose.
