Vol. 416 No. 6

Written Answers. - Dumping of Materials.

Eamon Gilmore

Question:

227 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for the Marine the steps, if any, he intends taking to stop the dumping of materials from building sites on the foreshore at Muckross, Donegal town.

I can advise the Deputy that it is an offence under the Foreshore Act, 1933 to deposit any material on the foreshore without the Minister's consent. No such consent has been given in relation to the foreshore at Muckross, Donegal town.

My Department has requested the local authority and the gardaí to investigate the incidents to which the Deputy refers with a view to taking appropriate action under the relevant provisions of the Foreshore Act.
