Vol. 416 No. 6

Written Answers. - Irish Amateur Rowing Union Funding.

Austin Deasy

Question:

252 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Education if he will give details of the allocation which was made to the Irish Amateur Rowing Union in 1991; and if any allocation has been provided for in the current year particularly in relation to the Olympic Games.

The Irish Amateur Rowing Union received an allocation of £110,000 from the proceeds of the national lottery in 1991.

While the allocation to the Irish Amateur Rowing Union for the current year has not yet been finalised, an advance of £36,000 has been paid under the annual scheme of grants to national sporting organisations.

Expenses incurred by the Irish Amateur Rowing Union in preparing and sending a team to the Olympic Games are met by the Olympic Council of Ireland to whom my Department allocates an annual grant.
