Vol. 416 No. 6

Written Answers. - Ministerial Policy.

Ruairí Quinn

Question:

354 Mr. Quinn asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if he will define the new and existing responsibilities of the Minister(s) of State within his Department following the recent changes in the Government; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The Minister of State in the Department of Foreign Affairs has in the past generally had special responsibility for overseas development assistance as well as assisting the Minister for Foreign Affairs in dealing with the full range of issues within the Department's remit.

In addition to this responsibility, Minister of State Daly will also assume special responsibility for all emigrant issues dealt with by the Department of Foreign Affairs. The allocation of further specific responsibilities will be kept under review in the light of experience over the coming months.
