Vol. 416 No. 6

Written Answers. - Livestock Supervisor Appointment.

Austin Deasy

Question:

402 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he intends to provide a fulltime livestock district supervisor to the Waterford office of his Department; and if the lengthy payment delays in this area can be attributed to the non-appointment to this position.

The district superintendent based in the livestock office in Kilkenny also has responsibility for the Waterford area. This is not unique as there are several other cases where one district superintendent covers more than one livestock office. However, the Department is currently examining the technical staffing needs in the Waterford-Kilkenny area.

Delays in payments from the Waterford office are not attributable to the technical staffing arrangements but rather to the fact that application forms were not completed satisfactorily in many cases.
