Vol. 416 No. 6

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Jim Higgins

Question:

400 Mr. J. Higgins asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason for the delay in payment of farm installation aid to a person (details supplied) in County Mayo.

There is no record of a formal application for farm installation aid from the person mentioned.

Jimmy Deenihan

Question:

401 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will waive the off-farming income requirement for entitlement to pollution control grants.

Under the EC financed scheme for the control of farmyard pollution, part-time farmers whose income from outside farming does not exceed £10,400 per year are eligible for grant aid. The income limit is increased annually to keep it in line with the average industrial wage.

With regard to the limited resources available, I am satisfied that this is a reasonable arrangement which ensures that the maximum number of farmers are catered for.
