Vol. 416 No. 7

Written Answers. - Planning Authorities Consultations.

Roger T. Garland

Question:

73 Mr. Garland asked the Minister for Finance whether the Office of Public Works consulted the other prescribed bodies provided for under section 21 (1) of the Planning Act, 1963 in connection with the centres at, (a) Dunquin, (b) Mullaghmore, (c) Canal Basin, Dublin, (d) Wicklow and (e) the Boyne Valley; if so, if he will outline the response they received from these bodies; and if not the reason the Office of Public Works did not do so.

The only provision of the Local Government (Planning and Development) Act, 1963, relevant to the developments mentioned by the Deputy, is section 84. Consultation took place in each case with the relevant planning authority under this section of the Act. Section 21 (1) relates to the obligations of the planning authorities who have prepared drafts of development plans or of proposed variations of such plans. This does not arise in relation to the centres in question.
