Vol. 417 No. 1

Written Answers. - Dental Programme in Killarney.

John O'Leary

Question:

207 Mr. O'Leary asked the Minister for Health if he will outline his proposals to include the Killarney town primary schools in the dental examination programme carried out under the auspices of the Southern Health Board; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I understand from the Southern Health Board that at present the sixth classes in the schools are offered an examination at the Killarney Health Centre.

A second dental surgery will be available shortly in Killarney and is in the course of being commissioned at present. When the additional surgery is available dental examinations will be extended to further classes in national schools.

The services in Killarney, in line with the rest of Kerry, offers an emergency service to every national school child and the child is accorded clinical priority if he/she presents with a dental emergency.
