Vol. 417 No. 2

Written Answers. - Departmental Advisers.

John V. Farrelly

Question:

107 Mr. Farrelly asked the Minister for the Marine if he will outline the following details in respect of the advisers appointed by his Department: (a) salary, (b) conditions of employment, (c) pension entitlements/annuities, (d) travelling expenses and (e) specific duties to be performed by these people; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

A researcher was appointed by my Department with effect from 14 February 1992.

He holds a temporary, unestablished position within the Civil Service which will terminate not later than the date on which I, as Minister for the Marine, or the present Government, cease to hold office. He is paid a salary of £14,258 per annum and is, for the duration of his appointment, a member of the non-contributory pension scheme for non-established State employees and of the spouses' and children's contributory scheme for non-established State employees. His entitlements in respect of travelling expenses are those which apply to unestablished civil servants in general. He is required to perform any duties which may be assigned to him from time to time as appropriate to a researcher and assistant.
