Question:

276 Mr. Creed asked the Minister for the Environment the policy, if any, his Department have regarding creche facilities in local authority offices throughout the country.

Following discussions with the local authority staff panel of unions under the auspices of the Local Government Staff Negotiations Board, it was agreed that local authority management would deal at local level with any approaches made by their staff for the provision of child care facilities in line with Government policy as stated in the Programme for Economic and Social Progress.
