Vol. 544 No. 1

Written Answers. - Departmental Staff.

Question:

171 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for Finance the number of staff in his Department who have made job-sharing arrangements; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [28290/01]

At present there are 70 staff in the Department of Finance who avail of job sharing arrangements out of a total staff complement of over 600. It should be noted that, with effect from June 2001, the existing job sharing scheme in the Civil Service was incorporated into a much broader family friendly initiative known as worksharing. A further 16 members of staff of my Department are, or will shortly be, availing of this initiative with a variety of working patterns which include three day week, four day week and a 9 a.m. to 3.00 p.m. working day.

In general my Department has led the way in introducing family-friendly policies in the workplace. Staff in my Department can also avail of a range of other family-friendly arrangements including flexitime, parental leave, term time working and career breaks.
