Vol. 417 No. 5

Written Answers. - House Grants.

John Stafford

Question:

292 Mr. Stafford asked the Minister for the Environment if he will direct that new houses in the Dublin area will only qualify for the revised £2,000 grant, if they are fitted with smokeless solid fuel open fires with back boilers.

Houses in the Dublin area, other than those in specified largely rural areas of County Dublin, qualify for a new house grant only if the house has a principal means of space and water heating which uses electricity, gas, oil or a solid fuel burning appliance which will satisfactorily limit smoke emissions. I have no proposals to change these requirements.
