Vol. 417 No. 7

Written Answers. - Aliens Office Inquiry.

Alan Shatter

Question:

126 Mr. Shatter asked the Minister for Justice if he will outline the outcome of the inquiry into the Aliens Office; whether any person has been moved out of the office or had his employment terminated as a result of the inquiry; whether any prosecutions are being brought following the investigation; and if he will further outline the current position in this regard.

It is not the practice for the Minister for Justice to give detailed information to the House about specific Garda investigations except in singular instances where the circumstances of an investigation are so exceptional that such a course is deemed to be appropriate. Given that a file on the matter referred to in the question has been sent to the DPP, any comment by me at this stage would be inappropriate.
