Vol. 418 No. 2

Written Answers. - Tax Free Allowance.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

42 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Finance if he will give details of the updated tax-free allowance for a person (details supplied) in County Kildare; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that for the tax year 1991-92 the taxpayer's tax-free allowances are in order, based on the latest return of income. An amended tax-free allowance certificate for the tax year 1992-93, will issue shortly granting the following allowances:

£

Marriage Allowance

4,200

PAYE Allowance

800

Age Allowance

400

Medical Insurance

339

Interest Relief

240

Total

5,979

That is equal to £498.25 per month @ Table R (27 per cent). The inspector of taxes has written to the taxpayer requesting additional information. On receipt of a reply any adjustments necessary will be made.
