Written Answers. - County Leitrim School Bus Route.

Question:

71 Mr. G. Reynolds asked the Minister for Education if he will have the school bus route extended from Farnaught PO to Beihy Bridge, County Leitrim for the convenience of the large number of students who attend the post-primary school in Mohill, County Leitrim; and if, in view of the additional information given to his Department by Leitrim Vocational Education Committee he will now make a decision on the matter.

My Department understand from inquiries that the appropriate centres for transport purposes for the pupils in question are in the Newtownforbes-Longford catchment area and they are fully eligible for transport to those centres. However, they have chosen to attend a school in Mohill and as such under the terms of the school transport scheme can only be accommodated on the school transport service from the boundary of the Mohill catchment area.
