116 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Education if he will give details of the approximate cost of allowing European Social Fund grants for vocational training to be extended to private vocational training institutions, rather than to confine them as at present, to Exchequer funded institutions.
The question of extending ESF aid to private vocational training institutions does not arise as the limit of EC aid available to my Department under the existing Community Support Framework agreement was reached in 1990.
My Department do not have data on student numbers attending private vocational training institutions and are therefore unable to provide an estimate of the cost which would arise to the State of funding training programmes in these institutions.
