39 Mr. Bell asked the Minister for Finance if he will outline the reasons responsibility for the administration of the Vote of the National Botanic Gardens has been transferred to the Vote of the Office of Public Works; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
The transfer of responsibility for the Botanic Gardens from the Department of Agriculture and Food to the Commissioners of Public Works results from a Government decision in the matter, taken last year. The Government believe that integration of the management of the Botanic Gardens with the other historic parks and gardens in the care of the Commissioners will prove beneficial to the Botanic Gardens, and to the other properties.
