Written Answers. - Kilmainham Jail (Dublin) Works Funding.

Brian O'Shea

Question:

80 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Finance if he will outline the extent of the works which his Department propose to spend on Kilmainham jail in 1992 which will involve £300,000; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The project which is expected to take 12 months to complete at an estimated total building cost of over £1 million provides for the rationalisation of existing visitor services, the restoration of the Governor's wing and the creation of a new exhibition/ museum space. The new visitor services will include tea room, bookshop and toilet facilities.
