154 Mr. Flanagan asked the Minister for Education the number of remedial teachers at present employed in County Laois; if he considers such numbers to be adequate having regard to the demand; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
There are seven remedial teachers serving 15 schools at present in County Laois. This includes five schools allocated a remedial teacher service in the current school year as part of a national distribution of 80 such posts under the Programme for Economic and Social Progress.
The further needs of schools in County Laois will be given every consideration when it is next possible to allocate remedial posts.
