Question:158 Mr. J. Higgins asked the Minister for Education if he is prepared to appoint a secretary and caretaker to a school (details supplied) in County Mayo.

Under the Programme for Economic and Social Progress, it is proposed to introduce a phased programme, commencing this year to expand the provision of caretaking and clerical services to national schools with 100 pupils upwards and to post primary schools with 200 pupils upwards.
I am not in a position to say at this point when it may be possible for the Sacred Heart secondary school, Castlebar Street, Westport, County Mayo, to benefit under this programme.
