Vol. 418 No. 7

Written Answers. - Funding of Residential Unit for Elderly.

Brendan Howlin

Question:

197 Mr. Howlin asked the Minister for Health if he will outline the timescale in which he will provide funding for a permanent residential unit for the elderly in Wexford town as suggested by the Minister of State at his Department (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter.

As indicated by the Minister of State at my Department in the Seanad on 18 April last, the South Eastern Health Board is already receiving in excess of 30 per cent of the capital budget for the health services in 1992 for general hospital developments in Waterford (Ardkeen), Wexford and Kilkenny. Consideration will be given to any proposal for a residential unit in Wexford for the elderly in the light of available resources and the other priorities of the health board.
