Vol. 418 No. 7

Written Answers. - Kerry Drugs Find.

Bernard Allen

Question:

129 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Justice if an investigation has been carried out into the £500,000 package of pure cocaine found washed up at Castlegregory beach in County Kerry; and if he has established the origin and ownership of the package.

It is assumed that the matter the Deputy is referring to is a package found at Stradbally Strand, Castlegregory, County Kerry on 24 March 1992 which contained approximately 1 kilo of cocaine, the degree of purity of which has yet to be determined. I have been informed by the Garda authorities that the matter is being fully investigated and that inquiries are being carried out with a view to discovering the origin of the package.
