63 Mr. Quinn asked the Minister for Energy if he will outline the procedural and operational changes he proposes to introduce into the operations of his Department so as to give effect to the Taoiseach's statement of his commitment to open Government, and if he will make a statement on the matter.
An officer of my Department has been given the duty of collecting material within the Department for the Government press briefings with political correspondents announced by the Taoiseach in the Dáil on the 18 February last. This will be in addition to the service already provided for the news media by the press officer who has been with the Department since November 1984.
I intend to be as open and forthright as possible in my dealings with both Houses of the Oireachtas and I will always be ready to introduce whatever procedural or operational changes I might find necessary in my Department to enable me to carry out this purpose.
