Vol. 419 No. 1

Written Answers. - Harcourt Street (Dublin) Line.

John Bruton

Question:

112 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Tourism, Transport and Communications when she will publish the comparative costings of the different public transport options for the Harcourt Street Line, Dublin 2.

A range of proposals for the development of a modern public transport system for Dublin involving bus and light rail options and incorporating utilisation of the Harcourt Street line is being examined at present within my Department. This work, which is not yet finalised, will form an important element of my Department's input into the Dublin Transportation Initiative which is preparing a long term integrated transportation strategy for the greater Dublin area.

The work programme for the Dublin Transportation Initiative involves the preparation of an interim report by September 1992 which will form an input into the negotiations on EC Structural Fund investment for the period 1994-98. The final report of the Dublin Transportation Initiative is due to be published in April 1993.
